Cmat Academy Shortlisted in Cheshire Schools Awards

The team at Cmat Academy, Congleton High School, were delighted to learn that they had been shortlisted in two categories of this year's Cheshire Schools Awards. PE teacher and school governor, Mr De Souza, has been recognised with a place in the finals of the Inspirational Teacher of the Year Award and the school website is shortlisted in the Newsletter and Website category.

Mr De Souza was nominated for the role that he undertakes as a teacher, colleague and governor, truly embodying the values and ethos of both Congleton High and Cmat. Appreciated by his students and fellow staff, Mr De Souza's encouragement, enthusiasm and approachability made him the perfect candidate for this award and the school was thrilled to hear that he had reached the final stage.

The school's website takes a major role in communicating with students, parents and the community, enabling the school to provide all the information needed in an easily accessible format. The website also enabled the school to keep parents abreast of the recent Funding Cuts issue, ensuring everyone had access to the information they needed to make informed choices.

Congleton has really made its mark on the awards, with Eaton Bank also shortlisted in the School Achievement and Active Community categories.

The finals of the awards will be held in Chester on Wednesday 28th June, when the finalists will learn whether they have won in their individual categories. We're keeping our fingers crossed!
