Black Firs’ Local Governing Body

In consultation with the national and regional authorities responsible for education and governance, Congleton Multi-Academy Trust (Cmat) has been forced to take an unpopular yet necessary decision to remove the Black Firs governors appointed by the MAT, including the Chair and replace with a temporary team pending further appointments. This is as result of a number of confidential governance issues that were discussed with those same national and regional authorities prior to any action being taken.

Cmat has communicated with all stakeholders regarding the situation and will continue to work with them to ensure that any concerns are addressed and that children and staff at the school remain unaffected. At all times, all parties have focused on keeping the educational needs of the children at Black Firs as the number one priority and, consequently, the school received a ‘Good’ rating from Ofsted last term.
