Cmat Secondary School Ranked Best in Cheshire!

Cmat was delighted to learn that its secondary school, Congleton High, was ranked as the best performing school in the whole of Cheshire following publication of the Government's provisional performance tables on October 16th. This places the Cmat academy in the top 10 per cent of schools nationally.

The schools’ performance is assessed using the Government’s Progress 8 measurement, which takes each student’s best eight GCSE results and measures the progress made from the level at which they started in Year 7 (the first year of high school) to the level they actually achieved at GCSE. This shows the value added by the school, which, in the case of Congleton High School, a Progress 8 score of 0.38 means on average students achieving almost half a grade higher in every subject for the GCSE subjects. For many this meant securing the next grade up, ensuring that they achieved the results they needed to progress with their chosen pathway.

Head of Congleton High School, Mr Barlow, commented on the school’s achievement:
“We were absolutely thrilled when we heard the fantastic news. So many schools in the area have achieved great results this year so it is particularly pleasing to have done quite so well. It was also great to see that students of all abilities made equally exceptional progress.

“Our school motto is ‘Achieving Success Together’ and this outcome is testament to that as it is the result of student, school and family all working together as a team over a number of years.”
