Cmat School is Cheshire Schools Awards Finalists Once Again!

Once again we were delighted to learn that our secondary school, Congleton High, has made the finals of the annual Cheshire Schools Awards. This year, the Congleton High team have been shortlisted for the Secondary School of the Year Award and they were particularly thrilled to hear that their amazing Work Placement Coordinator, Jill Sadat-Shafai, is in the running for the Support Staff of the Year Award.

The winners of each category will be announced at the awards luncheon on Tuesday 11th June at The Queen Hotel in Chester. In addition to Jill Sadat-Shafai, the school will be represented at the awards by our CEO and Executive Principal of the school - David Hermitt, Congleton High Head of School - Jim Barlow and the school's Chair of Governors - Rich Benson. A group of students were also selected to attend the event, including Sixth Form students who have been supported by Jill Sadat-Shafai and younger children whose behaviour and school performance has been exceptional this year.

Head of School, Jim Barlow, commented:
"We were all extremely happy to hear the news that we have made the finals in two categories of the forthcoming Cheshire Schools Awards. Our place as a finalist in the Secondary School of the Year Award is a great achievement for our school and is the direct result of the strong and successful teamwork of our school community - our students, their families and our staff.

"Mrs Sadat-Shafai, our Work Placement Coordinator, works tirelessly to be able to provide our students with employment training and work experience opportunities, which give them a fantastic head-start in life, so we were really excited to learn that her efforts have been recognised with a shortlisting for the School Support Staff Award."

This will be the school's third time in the finals in a number of categories including Head of the Year and School Newspaper/ Website Award and, most importantly, when Congleton High Head of PE, Greg de Souza, was announced as the Inspirational Teacher of the Year in the 2017 awards.
